What's going on?
- New York Insurance Department has indicated that a rescue plan for largest bond insurers, MBIA and Ambac, may already be in place, as both companies are struggling to retain their AAA ratings. The plans to aid the monoliners involve regulators to raise $15B of capital and the news come as Moody’s cuts FGIC’s insurance units 6 levels to A3 from Aaa.
- Former Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan has been added to those who see the American economy teetering on the verge of a recession, giving this outcome a 50% or better probability of happening.
- Crude oil is trading higher on sustained growth in Asia and geopolitical situtation, despite news from the credit front that point to further global slowdown. While $96 a barrel marks a critical resistance level on the upside, a break of $95 will take the prices substantially lower.

PairSupp.Resis.CommentsUSDJPY107.64108.15Market seems to have a hard time following through on moves lately we might look to sell the break of 107.65 offered in USDJPY as this would represent a rejection of the recent rally.
Equities
Daimler (DAI:xetr) Might Have Posted A Profit For ’07 But The Sector Is Still Under Pressure And For The Short-term We Sell
Equities: Yesterdays U.S. session was firstly affected by the gloomy outlook on the U.S. economy presented by Ben Bernanke at his testimonial in front of Congress. Banks were generally hit in yesterdays U.S. session on a note made by Lehman Brothers saying that investment banks may have to make further write downs on credit losses. The downgrading of FGIC, the fourth largest in the world, made the markets nervous. However it was stressed that MBIA and AMBAC is in better financial shape and they edged higher in the trading session. The trend from the U.S. session continued in the Asian session where markets are trading nearly flat, however banks were hit as the fear of further write downs on assets spurred and technology stocks went lower on the fear of economic slowdown.

Equity Trading Strategies
We are having a weak outlook for the Auto industry especially for the luxury high-end of the sector. Even if Daimler managed to post a profit for ’07 after selling off their Chrysler unit we like the downtrend in Daimler, and with our negative outlook for the automotive sector. We want to sell around 54-55, with a stop at 56. Targeting 50.
