My short- and long-term views on USD/JPY
I remain bullish on USD/JPY for as long as the Fed is seen to be on a tightening campaign and investors are scrambling to regain balance on their USD positions, mostly in the first part of 2006. For now, my sense is that an USD/JPY ‘overshoot’ is likely, but not sustainable. It is important to keep in mind that, over the medium-term, real factors matter for the real exchange rate.
