Comment: Optimism rose in the markets last week due to better than expected earnings reports from US companies. Euro rose towards the upper part of the formation at 1,4180-00.
The most important event this week will be Bernanke’s testimony on Tuesday and Wednesday and its is likely to cause muck volatility in the market.
The price remains within the sideways consolidation from the beginning of June and this confirms the absence of a basic trend and the uncertainty in the market. However, the break of the formation will be confirmed above 1,4200, and we will follow it with target at 1,4300-50.
As we can see in the 4 hour chart, the short term trend is bullish, while important resistance at 1,4180-00 are tested in the beginning of the day. If it isn’t breached, a retracement towards 1,4100 or even 1,4080-80 would be possible. A downward break of these levels would have as target the area of 1,3980-00, where the lower part of the upward channel is found.

*STRATEGY: We remain bearish until a clear break of 1,4200 ( in that case we will follow with buy orders and target at 1,4250-70 and then 1,4300).
Sell orders could be tried after a reversal sign at 1,4180-00 resistance with target at 1,4100-30. Sell positions could also be tried at a clear break of 1,4060, with target at 1,3980-00 and stop above the candle of the break..
