The IFR Forex Watch orders board contains information on large orders that are rumored to be in the market for each currency pair. Orders can have significant impacts on currency movements, as they can cap rallies or create support. The following is an explanation of some of the terms used on the orders board:
Examples
EUR/CHF - Bids at 1.4650; Means that there are orders to buy at 1.4650
These bid levels can indicate potential areas of support
EUR/CHF – Offers at 1.4680 - 1.4700; Means that there are orders to sell between 1.4680-1.4700
These offer levels can indicate areas of resistance
EUR/USD – 1.0750 strikes roll off today, or expires today
Spot prices tend to experience support or resistance around strike prices because option traders may be trying to prevent their counterparties from exercising their options
AUD/USD – Real Money Funds and CTA’s selling rallies above
Real Money Funds and CTAs, tend to be unleveraged traders and less speculative in nature than leveraged funds. They typically use spot transactions to hedge positions in other products.
USD/JPY – Japanese exporters selling
Indicates that hedgers are selling the rallies
