المضارع المستمر

John is in his car. He is in his way to work
جون في سيارته وهو في طريقه الى العمل

He is driving to work
هو يقود سيارته الى العمل

This means he is driving now: at the time of speaking
هذا يعني أنه يقود السيارة الآن ونحن نتحدث

This is the present continuous
وهذا هو المضارع المستمر

The form of the present continuous tense
to be (am, are, is) + infinitive + ing

I am helping
we/you/they are helping
he/she/it is helping

The present continuous is used to talk about actions happening at the time of speaking
المضارع المستمر يستخدم للحديث عن أعمال تحدث أثناء كلام المتحدث

Example
Where is Mary? She is having a bath. (Not she has a bath)
What are you doing at the moment in front of your screen? Don't you know? Well … you are reading this lesson. You are learning English

The present continuous can also be used when an action has started but hasn’t finished yet
يستخدم المضارع المستمر أيضا عندما يكون العمل بدأ ولم ينته بعد

Example
I am reading a book; it’s a nice book. (It means = I am not necessarily reading it; I started reading it but I haven’t finished it yet
أنا أقرأ كتابا وهو كتاب جميل. هذا لا يعني بالضرورة أني أقرأه في هذه اللحظة. أنا بدأت في قراءته ولم أنته منه بعد
